This William Atkin designed classic was built at the Seimans Boat Yard, Gresham, Oregon. She is a one-off design, in size midway between the familiar 32' Eric and 26' Eric Jr,  Colin Archer style, Atkin designs, with a layout identical to that of the smaller Eric Jr. 

There was an expert shipwright conducted restoration of 80% of the vessel completed three years ago. Receipts and photos are available to serious buyers. Some further restoration has recently been found to be required, please call or email for more detailed information. 

The two boat owner reduced the price April 27th 2021 to expedite sale.

Construction

Carvel planking on frame, heavy scantlings.

Planking of 4'' x 1" Port Orford Cedar, fastened with bronze screws to 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" bent oak Frames on 6" centers, kerfed and backed with sawn oak in turn of bilge. Floors are 2" oak. Stem/Deadwood/Sternpost of 8" teak. Keel is lead on 10" iron bark. Clamps/Shelf are 2'' x 5" Port Orford Cedar. Stringers are 1 1/2" x 5"  Port Orford Cedar. Rudder is Port Orford cedar with bronze pintles and gudgeons. Decks are 3/4" x 5" laid caulked teak over 1/2" birch Finnish plywood. Beams : 2 1/2" x 2" sawn oak (deck) and 1/2" x 2" sawn oak (cabin top). The cabin is solid 1" Port Orford cedar. Cabin top is 1/2" marine ply with FRP over. Cabinetry is mahogany marine plywood and Port Orford Cedar. Rig is solid one piece spruce spars, with SS pressed 7x19 standing rig.

Accommodations

Accommodations for two, with basic conveniences of sink, kerosene stove and ice box. There is an electric toilet that needs to be plumbed in.

Engine

The Yanmar QM15 2 cyl raw water cooled diesel was produced sometime in the mid-late eighties and reconditioned in the general refit in 2014, at which time the engine was installed.

Sails and Rig

Standing rigging and running rigging were new in 2018. All existing sails are mounted on the boat - mainsail, staysail and jib ... age of the sails is unknown but they are in good condition. Running backstays, hyfield lever for fore stay, 2 cockpit winches.

Additional Information
  • Altair was purchased by her current owner in 2012, with the engine on a pallet. At Wayne Ettel's yard the hull, frame replacement and horn timber work was conducted in 2013. The engine was installed with new SS mount, shaft, prop and shaft log in 2014. The mast, boom, restored custom bronze mast ring installation, cabin sides and top restored in 2015.
