Electrical Systems

Voltage:

12 Volt DC negative ground.

A separate designated 24 volt negative ground system serves the bow thruster only

 

Batteries:

Three 8D type lead acid storage batteries are provided for engine starting and the house. The generator is served by an apparent group 31 type lead acid storage battery. Two additional lead acid storage type batteries in series provide 24 volt power for the bow thruster. All batteries contained in acid resistant non conductive trays or boxes with covers and were secured from movement to meet ABYC standard E-10.7 All no grounded materials were properly covered.

Main Battery Switches:

A Cole-Hersee four position marine battery switch is located at the main DC panel.

A two-position marine battery switch is located near the generator.

Panel: 

The system contains a distribution panel with main circuit breakers and bus type circuit breakers for individual branch circuits. System status is monitored by analog voltage and amperage meters at the main panel as well as volt meters located each helm.

Wiring/Routing/Support:

Marine type plastic jacketed wiring as is well supported and secured where sighted.

Charging System:

The main generator batteries are charged by engine mounted alternators and a NewMar 50 amp 120 Volt AC bateery charger. The apparent house battery is charged by a Professional Mariner 1230P 30 amp 120 volt charger. 

Electrical System (A.C. System):

Shore Power Inlet: Four 240 volt 50 amp Marinco shore power connections are located two each port and starboard midships.

One 120 Volt Marinco shore power connection is located on panel near starboard midships.

Shore Power: Dual Marinco shore power cords with weather boots.

AC Source Selector Switch: A rotary type generator shore power switch is located at the main panel. An additional rotary switch selects the shore power input locations.

Main Breaker: The system contains a distribution panel with main breakers and bus type circuit breakers for individual branch circuits. Weather tight input fuses are located at each shore [power connection location.

Circuit Load Monitors: Switchable analog voltmeters, ammeters and frquency meter are provided at the main panel. 

Wire Type (Size and Rating): Marine type plastic covered.

Outlets: [B2]: Various 120VAC outlets throughout interior. GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) protected outles were sighted in the galley, each head, within the engine space and in the main cabins.

Polarity: Reverse polarity indicators at the main panel

Galvanic Isolator: Two Westinghouse 15kVA isolation transformers, one for each main 240 Volt shore power circuit.

Generators and Inverters:

Manufacturer:One Westerbeke model number 15-8TB-614, serial number 158891-C903, 240 Volt shore power circuit.

Kilowatt Rating: 15kW-240 volt-60 Hz as reported by the manufacturer data tag

Indicated Hours: An hour meter at the helm indicated 1207.7 hours

Location: Engine room forward to port.

Cooling System: Closed coolant and raw water exhaust type.

Exhaust System: Wet type with an FRP (fiber reinforced plastic) muffler.

Warning Labels: ABYC recommended labels in place and readable.

 

 

Fresh Water System

Fresh Water System: (Potable Water):

Description:

Two independent welded aluminum tanks are provided in parallel with PEX type flexible piping, manifolds and fittings.

One 19-gallon electric water heater with two 12 volt DC demand type pressure pumps complete with an accumulator tank.

Storage Tanks: Located below master stateroom berth.

Capacity: 100 US Gallons each tank

Fill Pipe Location: One stainless steel deck fill near the port quarter, labeled as water.

Vent Pipe Location: Port topsides near deck fill.

Accumulator: Integrated with the pressure pump.

Pumps: One Johnson WPS5.2 demand pressure pump.

Sanitation

Sanitation (Black Water)

Description: One integral molded FRP holding tank forward with two deck mounted out fittings and overboard discharge via 12 volt DC powered macerator. Each head is also equipped with a Y-valve switchable for direct to overboard discharge. 

Manufacturer: Three Jabsco heads with 12 volt DC raw water intake pumps.

Raw Water Supply and Clamps: One thru-hull is located near each individual head location. 

Pump Out Location: Two stainless steel fittings, one each near port and starboard midships each marked for waste.

Sanitation (Grey Water):

Basins and Showers: All basins and showers drain to automatic sump tanks, draining overboard.

Sump Tank Location: One each below he forward companionway and below the aft companionway.

 

Steering System

Type: Hydraulic type wheel steering, two control stations located one each in the pilothouse and and on the flybridge.
